"A Lament for Peace"

2 Lent.C.19
Luke 13:31-35:
The Rev. Melanie McCarley

Our Gospel lesson today is comprised, in part, of a heartbreaking lament by our Savior: Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired….but you were not willing!”

"Invest in Your Faith"

6 Epiphany.C.19
1 Corinthians 15:12-20
The Rev. Melanie McCarley

On a Christian talk-radio station the host was speaking to a woman named Cindy. Now, Cindy was a person with problems. In fact, Cindy had a lot of problems. This woman, she had problems at work, trouble in her marriage, and was at odds with her teen-aged children. She suffered from occasional bouts of depression. Cindy had problems.

"You're Right....It Is All About Me."

1 Epiphany.C.19 (04) Baptism of Jesus
Luke 3:15-17, 21-22
The Rev. Melanie McCarley

I am a fan of T-Shirts sporting pithy and provocative sayings. I find items such as these interesting and amusing; not only because, quite frequently they are humorous, but also because they mirror, for a short while, trendy sayings and fads. They also mirror values. Several years ago a popular slogan emblazoned on everything from T-shirts to pillows was “Queen of Everything”. Yet, my particular favorite was this; a t-shirt that read: “You’re right…it is all about me!”

"Stone Upon Stones"

Proper 28.B.18
Mark 10:35-45
The Rev. Melanie McCarley

As he came out of the temple, one of Jesus’ disciples said to him: “Look, Teacher, what large stones and what large buildings!” Then Jesus asked him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down.”

Welcome!
